"The Big 3 clamor to relieve themselves of the cost of retiree health care may be applauded by Wall Street and the investor class, but unions have a different responsibility and a different constituency.
We respectfully recommend that the GM UAW membership vote ‘NO’ and that the leadership instruct the workers to remain at work while they rejoin the negotiations to correct the VEBA mistake and other unjust concessions currently in the tentative agreement."

Heard all these today. Please note, these are JUST RUMORS as far as I know, but I have found, in the past, there is usually a grain of truth in most rumors. I am just sharing them out here, seeing if anyone else has heard the same thing, and if anyone has any real answers. First one I heard was there was going to be another large hourly layoff. A permanent one. (I HAVE heard this several times in the last few weeks, from multiple sources) Second rumor I heard today was that Salaried personel (GM) were notified this past Friday that they were receiving their yearly raise. IF this is true, how come GM told US we couldn't have our raises because they couldn't afford it but they can afford to give the salaried employees their raises? I also heard something about them also getting some kind of bonus later this year. That did not come from the same source as the one who told me about the raises. Lastly.... and MOST disturbing to me was, in regards to all the consessions GM wants us to make now, our international union will probably not even allow us to vote on these consessions. Can they even do this? And if so WHY would they do this to us?
As I said, I know these are just rumors going around the plant today so please don't jump on me for posting this. I would just like to know how much of this, if any, is real. I can't get a straight answer from anyone I ask, who SHOULD know.. Every day gets more stressful for me and others like me here. My gut tells me there is a reason why GM has yet to put their name on the buildings or shipping labels... I see things getting shrink wrapped and hauled to the docks.. There is no new business coming here. I am no spring chicken.. I will have a very hard time finding another job of any kind at my age. I would at least like a clear view of what I am facing in the near future.. Maybe it would help me sleep at night.. Maybe it would make it worse.. I'm not even sure of that anymore...
Thanks for being here. I have learned much from this site since I joined and I think you provide a valuable service to us.
My brother DID get a raise. That part of your rumors is true.
Please read Gregg Shotwell's Live Bait and Ammo in the SOS threads. The last two. The shop committees cannot change or even negotiate the 2007 contract.
At the present time the shop committee is in the middle of another REDISTRICTING. As the numbers keep dropping, so does our Representatives. I was told Monday mourning their will be another election this Friday, 02/12/10.
I have not heard about a production layoff, but they are after trades. laid off some last Friday, 2/5/10, they said another bunch this Friday, 2/12/10 and another group in March. The numbers change daily, it depends on what way the wind is blowing.
Also this new coa is going to be baaaad.
IMO They will sell us or close us, if you can transfer, don't walk, run to the nearest phone and call the Nat. Hire center.
It ain't going to be good. As other people posted, if we vote no, they have to keep the existing contract until soldout house can figure a way to screw us again.

If I even get a CHANCE to vote, it will sure as hell be NO.. I have a feeling this "all company" meeting scheduled for Thursday at 10 am is gonna be a giant "Scare Tactics" episode... "...you better agree to this or we will close". If they go there, I will stand up and walk out.. and flip them off as I go..... I'm done with thier bulls**t.. I have a feeling they are gonna try to figure out a way to get as much of what they DO need from us, awarded to delphi and moved over to that 10 dollar an hour, no benefits, no union, TPT hiring factory and we are gonna get shut out.. with nothing more than a "see ya, woudn't wanna be ya.." IF I am gonna be screwed out of my job, at least I won't go out with my ass in the air. I'll make these bastards look me in the eye and kiss me goodbye.

I wonder if we will get a chance to ask questions. I'd love to know how they can justify 'Merit' raises for some salaried employees, while refusing hourly their raise?
Drone I totally agree with you opening the contract shouldn't even be an option, but apparently our shop is not on the same page as the shop is at Lockport. Perhaps they should consult with them since we are all in the same boat?
Document 91 of that contract contains the successor clause: “any sale of an operation as an ongoing business would require the buyer to assume the 2007 Delphi-UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement.” Period. End of discussion.

Article 19 Section 3 of the UAW Constitution which asserts that no UAW officer may enter into negotiations with an employer without prior approval of the membership.
If they do it they are in violation of the contract and in their duty to represent you. If they do not represent you call the NLRB as Gregg Shotwell has indicated.

There was supposed to be a big company wide communication meeting tomorrow at 10 am. The rumor was it was to be about finances and how its getting pretty ugly. I figured it would be a strong-arm trying to convince us to agree to what the company wants or we might lose our jobs.. I had it in my head that if they 'went there', I was gonna get up and walk out. Well, the big meeting has been postponed till next week. I have a feeling this could get ugly fast. I will let ya'll know what happens...when it happens..
